05/01/2008 12:42 PM Alert

I've been working on incorporating more level 2 evaluation with my training programs lately and am curious if there are many others using the TC quiz tools to do level 2 evaluation.

Also I am looking for question writing resources. Having a background in technical writing segued nicely into training for me a few years back, but I am struggling with my question writing. For example I recently learned that it is very challenging for people to answer in the negative, e.g., which of the following is not part of..., so have spent the better part of the morning re-writing questions to be positive. Any resources you could direct me to would be very appreciated.

The folks over at Questionmark have some white papers that might be helpful: http://www.qmark.com/us/whitepapers/index.aspx

They also have a two day course on assessment (expensive, I think).

Back in the day, this is the book we used to give out to all our instructors tasked with creating assessment questions: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0134021819/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all

Probably well worth $4 for a used copy.

The WebEx University Course Development Team has a few suggested resources for writing questions -

  1. WebEx U's top suggestion - http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/questionwriting/
  2. There’s a section entitled “Write Questions that Test Skills Other Than Recall,” which might be helpful here - http://teaching.berkeley.edu/bgd/quizzes.html
