04/08/2008 1:08 PM Alert

In Meeting center, it is pretty easy to assign an alternate host - but I am stumped on how to do in Event Center.

Can someone walk me through the steps?

For hosts only

During an event, you can designate any attendee as a panelist. You can also change panelists at any time. For details on panelist's roles, see Panelist Role and Privileges. To designate an attendee as a presenter, you must designate him or her as a panelist first.

To designate a panelist:

In the Event window, in the participant list on the Participants & Communications panel, select the name of the attendee whom you want to designate as the panelist.
On the Participant menu, point to Change Role to, then choose Panelist. The name of the panelist appears in the Panelist list on the Participants & Communications panel.

Transferring the Host Role to a Panelist

As a host, you can transfer the host role - and thus control of the event—to a panelist at any time. This option can be useful if you need to leave an event for any reason. You can reclaim the host role at any time.

To transfer the host role to an attendee:

Optional. If you plan to reclaim the host role later, write down the host key that appears on the Info tab in the Event window's content viewer.  Click the Participants & Communications panel.

In the participant list, select the name of the panelist to whom you want to transfer the host role.

On the Participant menu, point to Change Role to, then choose Host. A confirmation message appears, in which you can verify that you want to transfer control of the event to the attendee whom you selected.

Click OK. The word (host) appears to the right of the attendee's name in the participant list.

For the original host only

If a panelist has control of an event, you can assume control of the event by reclaiming the host role.

Important: If you leave an event, whether intentionally or inadvertently, then log back in to your event service Web site, you automatically become the host once you rejoin the event. You can rejoin an event using either the List of Events page or the My Events page.

To reclaim the host role:

In the Event window, click the Participants & Communications panel. In the participant list, select your own name.
On the Participant menu, choose Reclaim Host Role. The Reclaim Host Role dialog box appears.
Type the host key in the Host key box.
Click OK. In the participant list, the word (host) appears to the right of your name.

Tip—If you did not write down the host key before transferring the host role to another panelist, you can ask the current host to send you the host key in a private chat message. The host key appears on the current host's Info tab in the content viewer.
