Currently, I download and watch ARF files.

I'd also like to be able to listen to just the audio portion while driving. 

I don't care about the video portion in the car.

Is there a way or utility to convert ARF to MP3?

($299 for Camtasia is not in the budget)

Hi Brooks,
Here's a workaround...you need to use the arf player to convert to WMV then use a third party (i.e. Camtasia or Sony Vegas) to convert to mp3.

While I know you were concerned about the cost of Camtasia...I know Techsmith.com offers 30 day free trial.

I'm not sure how many "free" trials you get but this is the only solution/workaround I see for now.

Audacity is free open source Audio Editor. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Select your soundcard as the source, then:

1. Record in audactiy as you record the session

2. Play the ARF and record in Audactiy. It's a real-time conversion but it will work.
