   Hi,

We currently use WebEx for having meetings where we mostly show off demos and have open discussions with virtual users.  A phone is used for voice communication between the different sites since not all participants have computers with microphone/speakers, etc.

Last meeting I (organizer) recorded it to my computer (not "on server", and for the most part it was good, but the sound was not good.  I wasn't expecting it to be that great since we used a pretty cheap microphone.

I'm in search of a good conference microphone and found the following:

  1. Pheonix Solo USB for $129.95
  2. AccuMic PC for $649
  3. ClearMic Due for $199.99

My question is if any of this work OK with WebEx?  Are they recognized as a microphone by WebEx without a problem?  Does anyone have experience with Pheonix Solo? Some of the reviews seems to be pretty positive.

If I were to use a Logitech headset microphone (that plugs in to the mic input) for the person doing the demo, and the Pheonix Solo microphone (plugged into the USB) to capture conversations from around the room/phone, would WebEx be able to record both inputs?

Does anyone have any other products they recommend?

If you are using a conference call for audio (not VOIP) then what you really need is a Dynametric device, or simmalar device for connecting your telephone to the microphone/headphone jacks on your PC. That way the entire conversation, presenter, people in the room, romote participants, is included in the recording.

There are otehr makers of this device, but Dynamteric offers sever WebEx co-branded models such as the TMP-636.

A bonus featuer of using the dynametric is that any audio from the PC can also be pumped out over the phone. We've used this successfully to add sound to videos played through the video panel, and to add sound F/x to presentations (see my previous post in this forum).

Interesting, so you are using the phone as the microphone for the PC (so that it can record) and also feed the sound of the PC to the people on the phone.

That could work, the only thing is that you're stuck with the phone as the microphone. I can see having a meeting were there's no need to have a phone conference call, but still need to capture people talking in the room (besides the presenter). That's why I was inclining to go with the Pheonix Solo product.

Just to be clear, this solution requires a conference call, it's no good for VOIP if you do not have an active conf call as well. The dynametric hears everything from the phone, including dial tone etc. if there is no active call.

Hello rcampana and other members,
I´m interested to get your experience of tested equipment for VOIP conference center. I´d like other 5 people sitting in my physical room to share a common microphone (with quality) to interact with other people connected elsewhere, via webex.
Have you rcampana acquired Pheonix Solo you mentioned and tried this? What is your feedback?
Does anybody esle could give me a feedback on similar proved equipment?
